Children's Dentistry of North Dallas echoes the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Dental Association in encouraging parents to bring their children to the dentist at a young age. Early exposure to dentistry will benefit your child’s current and future oral health by establishing a “dental home.” Children who have the benefit of a familiar dental environment are more likely to experience preventive and routine oral care they need.

We understand that visiting the dentist for the first time can be stressful for both the child and you as the parent. Please aid Drs. Holly, Curtis, Iwase, and Shah in making the first visit enjoyable for your child. If your child is old enough, explain to them the purpose of the visit and reassure them that our team will answer all of their questions. Please do not use negative words such as “drill,” “hurt,” “needle,” or “pull.” You are welcome to ask our office for advice on less-frightening vocabulary.

Please remain with your child during the examination to provide comfort and ask any questions you have regarding their health. At future appointments your child can accompany our team alone to help us establish a rapport with them. Our dentists strive to gain the confidence of our patients and remove their fears; however, you are welcome to accompany your child into the exam room if you wish. We ask that children who do not have an appointment remain in the waiting room with an adult for the safety and privacy of our patients.

Contact our office at 214-378-8868 if you have further questions or would like to schedule your child’s first visit with our pediatric dentists in Dallas, Texas. We look forward to caring for your child’s smile!
